1. Implementation
This week, the team started working on the implementation of the project, starting with the adaptation of a muti-agent system example provided by the professors in order to become the base system for this project.
As it stands, base system contains the following agents, with a very simple set of interactions implemented between them, which will naturally have to be extended in the following weeks, in order to better capture the interactions that take place in a restaurant floor.
Regarding robotics and IoT, the team implemented, respectively, a base simulation in Gazebo, with a very simple restaurant environment and with a single TurtleBot already able to autonomously navigate around it, and a simple IoT device capable of receiving the number of people for which a table is needed as input and showing it on a LCD display, with the goal being to also send it to a middleware.
2. Scientific article
By the end of this week, the team has to deliver the state of the art chapter of the article. As such, the focus of this week's writing on the scientific article went into that chapter, with the team taking advantage of the research already made last week and essentially summarising it in the article.
It is expected that professors will provide feedback in the following week, allowing the team to the necessary changes and improvements in order to obtain the best possible article as a result.
3. Week retrospective
Overall, this was a rather productive week, with the team achieving all the goals set in the project roadmap, which makes this an encouraging start to the project's development.
Next week, the team expects to make further progress in the project, with the some of the planned milestones being significant and shaping up how the final solution is going to be like.
Until next week, stay tuned!
